Abstract
In 1938, Freeman and Sheldon described two cases characterized by small contracted mouth, high philtrum, narrownostril and nasal bones flattening of facial skeleton, hypertelorism and slightly suckened eyes. The face was disproportionately small in comparison to the skull. The hand marked ulnar deviation and flexion contracture of first fingers, and the feet were in a talipes equinovarus position. They called this syndrome cranio-carpo-tarsal dystrophy. Since it¡¯s first description in 1938 by Freeman and Sheldon, only anaverage of 1.5 cases have been reported per year. Up to date, surgical correction of the hand deformities and microstomia of Freeman-Sheldon syndrome have been only briefly mentioned. Following, we report a new case and document the surgical reconstruction of adduction, flexion contracture of bilateral thumbs and microstomia with literature review.
